IQONIC’s numbers

The IQONIC project aims at achieving flexibility, zero-defect production and sustainability in the manufacturing of optoelectronic components.

To reach this purpose, the IQONIC consortium is developing a scalable zero-defect manufacturing platform covering the overall process chain, from the design of new components to their disassembly and reintroduction into the value chain at their end-of-life. This platform will be applicable both to new and existing manufacturing lines and it will comprise 10 technologies (hardware and software components) and 8 scalable strategies at component, workstation and shopfloor levels. IQONIC strategies and technologies will then be tested in 4 relevant demo sites covering a wide range of products and processes.

These developments will have a major impact on the European opto-electronics manufacturing industry and the European society as a whole:

• 22% increase in in-service efficiency;
• 16% faster reconfiguration times;
• 10% reduction in production cost through recycled materials and components;
• 400 new job positions
• Over 39 MEUR ROI for the consortium
