CORE results in the iQonic project
The assembly process of photonics and opto-electronic components includes many processing stages. To increase their production efficiency and reduce their costs, manufacturers urgently need to have real-time information about the quality of the produced components, from the early stages of the production chain.

Within iQonic project, our partner CORE Innovation developed and deployed a new complete framework for defect detection and quality prediction of the final assembled product. CORE’s technology was validated in two demo cases, i.e. (1) high-power diode laser manufacturing (Prima Electro) and (2) quantum cascade lasers production (Alpes), producing impressive results.
Specifically, during the real time validation, CORE’s technology predicted the final power of the assembled laser in the Prima Electro demo case with an outstanding accuracy of >97%. This allows opto-electronic manufacturers to optimise the testing phase, which is a time-consuming and expensive step in the production chain, thereby increasing their production efficiency.
